Iskan is a user permit for your holiday property. Iskan is a kind of a permission that a newly built apartment need to have issued from the authorities, in order to be able to live in the apartment. Together with Tapu, Iskan is one of the most important documents to have when you buy an apartment in Turkey. There are two relevant and different types of Iskan. On Iskan is a user permission on the whole building and the constructor of the building is responsible to apply for that. When issuing the On Iskan, the authorities make sure that the constructor has complied to the building law, that the workers have received their salary and insurance as well as the plan is complied with. The fee for On Iskan is normally paid by the constructor.
When everything has been approved regarding to ON ISKAN, the privat Iskan will be issued. This is a permission that you can move into your apartment. On Iskan is issued for the whole building and the privat Iskan is for each apartment.
When you buy a holiday property in Turkey it is a good idea to ask for the iskan document. If it is still not issued, it is very important that this is mentioned in the purchase contract to maintain clean lines regarding different responsibilities. The cost for preparing Iskan is between 800-1000 T
