    Print Recommend

If you wish to stay in Turkey for more than 90/180 days, you need to apply for Turkish residence permit, called Ikamet in Turkish. The first time you apply for residence permit, the procedure can be quite challeging and therefore J.O. Dreams provide assitance if requested.

If you are not married to a Turkish citizen, you can maximum apply for a 2 year residence permit at the time. Following documents is necassary when you apply:

    4 biometric passport photos

Copy of your passport and the latest entry stamp in Turkey

Copy of deed/tapu if you are owner of a property, if you rent, you need a rental contract which is valid for the number of months you apply for residence permit. The contract must be in Turkish and it must be notary stamped here in Turkey.

Health insurance valid for the number of months you apply for residence permit. The insurance must be in Turkish, if you chose to use a Danish insurance, please be aware that the insurance police must state that it is valid in Turkey and please know that the insurance and insurance terms must be translated into Turkish and notary stamped here in Turkey. The price of health insurance depends on your age and health. NB. If you are over 65 years old, you don't need a health insurance

    Turkish tax number

A copy of a Turkish bank account in your name with 1500TL for each month you apply for residence permit for. If you are retired and have pension, you can have your pension certificate translated into Turkish and notary stamped instead of showing a copy of a bank account.

The total costs of applying for residence permit depends on which country you are from etc. If you request our assistance for this procedure, please do not hesitate to contact one of our service consultants.

    Overstay

If you have violated the 90/180 day rule and does not have residence permit, following laws will apply:

you will get a daily fine for the number of days you have overstayed in Turkey. This is calculated by the passport /immigration control in the airport. It is possible to pay the fine in the airport upon departure or at the Turkish embassy in your home country.

If you pay the fine and you need to enter Turkey again within 3 months from departure date, you will receive a document in the airport in Turkey upon arrival, asking you to apply for residence permit to Turkey within 10 days from the date of arrival. If you comply with this, no further actions will be taken. If you do not comply with this, you will be granted another fine upon next departure date and possible be expelled from Turkey for up 5 years. If you wait 3 months or longer from the date where the first fine is issued to enter Turkey and pay the fine before travelling here, then a new 90/180 day period begin from the day you again will enter Turkey.

If you are expelled from Turkey for a certain number of months or a certain number of years, it is possible to get this decision nullified at the Turkish embassy in your home country.
